7 Days Kilimanjaro Climb - Rongai Route
Rongai route is remote and unspoiled contrary to other routes. It is the only route that approaches Mount Kilimanjaro from the north close to the Kenyan border. You will hike with no less or no crowds from the north and descend through the Marangu route. This 7-day itinerary includes pick-up from the airport, transfer to the lodge, and an experienced mountain guide.

- Day 1: Arrival Day
Meet our mountain guide at the airport and transfer to the lodge in Moshi. Relax at your lodge and after a while listen to a short brief about your hike. You can also check for the equipment required for a successful Kilimanjaro climb. Enjoy a scrumptious dinner and fall asleep in your spacious room.
- Day 2: Rongai Route to Simba Camp
After a buffet breakfast, we set off for Marangu Gate where cleared the paperwork with the officials. We then drive further a 70-kilometer distance to the Rongai route trailhead. We start our hike at Nale Moru village. After 4-5 hours of hiking through the gentle slope, we hit the Simba Camp. Here, we eat a hot dinner, hot shower, and first sleep on the mountain.

- Day 3: Simba Camp to Second Cave, then to Kikelewa Camp
As the chef prepares a hot coffee for a break, you prepare for the hike. After breakfast, we hike through a trail leading to Kibo. You enjoy the scenic views of the Kibo and Mawenzi peaks. We then hiked on a trail and finally hit the Second Cave Camp. We relax and have a delicious meal. We then continue hiking southeastwards to the jagged peak of Mount Kilimanjaro. We walk through the moorland while enjoying the views of Mt. Kilimanjaro until we arrive at Kikelewa Camp.

- Day 4: Kikelewa Camp to Mawenzi Tarn Hut
- Day 5: Mawenzi Tarn Hut to Mawenzi Ridge to Mawenzi Tarn
On this day, we hike eastwards up a ridge and then southeast toward the Lava Tower (15,190 ft). Lava Tower is a 300-ft volcanic rock formation. The hike starts to descend to Barranco Camp. You relax, enjoy dinner, and sleep overnight.

- Day 5: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp
After breakfast, we hike from Mawenzi Tarn to Mawenzi Ridge, then back to Mawenzi Tarn. The views of Kibo and Mawenzi peaks can be observed at different angles while walking on the ridge. We then return to Mawenzi Tarn Hut for dinner and overnight. This day’s hike is included in the itinerary for acclimatization purposes.

- Day 6: Mawenzi Tarn Hut – Kibo Hut
After an early meal, we continue the hike to the west, cross a ridge, and then drop down the slope. We then walk along the Saddle’s northern edge and finally reach the Kibo Hut. An early dinner and hot washing water will be given to relax your body for the summit attempt, which will begin shortly at midnight.

- Day 7: Kibo Hut to Uhuru Peak, then to Horombo Hut
A friendly wake-up call will wake you up. After all the preps, hot breakfast, and snacks, the hike will begin. This is the most challenging part of the Kilimanjaro climb. If you persevere this hike, you will conquer the Uhuru Peak. We hike the steep inclination while taking some short rests to catch our breath. The aim is to witness the sunrise at the summit, though this may be challenging. As we hike, we arrive at Gilman’s Point (18,600ft), views of illuminating sunrise start to be clear. We then continue the hike until we step Uhuru Peak (19,341ft), the highest peak in Africa.
We then start to descend. We will stop at Kibo Camp for lunch, and then proceed to Horombo Hut for dinner and overnight.

· Hiking time: 6-8 hours ascent & 4-5 hours descent

- Day 8: Horombo Hut to Marangu Gate
After our last breakfast on Mt. Kilimanjaro, we walk downhill until we reach the Marangu Gate. The trekking poles and gaiters can help to lose gravel as you move downhill. Collect your summit certificates and drive back to your lodge in Moshi.
