7 DAYS KILIMANJARO CLIMB – LEMOSHO ROUTE
The Lemosho route is uniquely rewarding with its amazing scenery. This route is endowed with lush forests and stunning geographical features, such as craters, etc. Through this 7-day itinerary, you have six days to conquer the peak with an extra day of acclimatization.
- Itenerary
- Day 1: Arrival Day and transfer to the hotel
Start your journey from anywhere in the world, arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport, and meet our experienced guide waiting for you. With much warm welcome to make you feel at home, you will then be transferred to your hotel in Moshi. At the lodge, you will get a short brief about the hiking and check if you have all the necessary gear and requirements. You will then dine and sleep overnight preparing for the first day of the hike.
- Day 2: Londorossi Gate to Forest Camp
Wake up early in the morning and get yourself ready for the hike. You will hit the road and drive to the Londorossi Gate. You will take a few minutes to register with the park officials and soon the hike will begin. Lower down the trail can be muddy, but it is not worse. Gaiters and trekking poles can be of much help here. After 3 or 4 hours, you will stop at Forest Camp for dinner and overnight sleep.

- Day 3: Forest Camp to Shira Camp 1
After breakfast, we will start the hike. On this day, we continue through the rainforest until we enter the moorland zone. We will ascend through the hills, and streams, and reach the Shira Ridge. Afterwards, we will hike down to Shira Camp 1. At this point, the Kibo Plateau is visible and is amazingly attractive.

- Day 4: Shira Camp 1 to Shira Camp 2 to Moir Hut
After breakfast, we hike through the Shira plateau for a full day. We walk gently in the east toward Kibo’s glaciated peak. We take a short rest at Shira Camp, rehydrate, and hike to the Moir Hut for dinner and overnight.

- Day 5: Moir Hut to Lava Tower to Barranco Camp
After breakfast, we continue the hike in the east direction. We pass the junction to the peak of Kibo and then hike to the southeast towards the Lava Tower (Shark Tooth). We then cross the Arrow Glacier (16,000ft). We come to Barranco Hut (13,000ft) where rest, dine, and sleep overnight. There is no variation in the elevation on this day’s hike. This offers an acclimatization exercise.

- Day 6: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp, then to Barafu Camp
After breakfast, we hike from Barranco through a steep ridge past Barranco Wall and reach the Karanga Valley. We then leave Karanga and pass the junction that joins with the Mweka Trail. At this point, we have passed the Southern Circuit. We will then camp, rest, have an early dinner, and sleep early in preparation for the summit attempt.

- Day 7: Barafu Camp to Summit, then to Mweka Hut
A friendly wake-up call will get you up at around 23:30 and do all the preps. Your chef will serve you a hot coffee and some bites to boost your body. The hike will begin at around 01:30 a.m. We hike past the Rebmann and Ratzel glaciers. We then ascend in the northwest toward Stella Point. This is a very challenging part of the hike. We take as many rests as possible. Rehydration is a key to success.
We enjoy sunrise at the summit and then start the descent. We have rest and lunch at Barafu Camp and then continue to Mweka Hut. Here, we enjoy our last dinner on the mountain and enjoy a well-deserved sleep.

- Day 8: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate
After breakfast, we finish the remaining part. At the Mweka Gate, you collect your certificates for conquering Africa’s highest peak. Meet a vehicle waiting for you at the gate. You will then drive to your lodge in Moshi.
