Tarangire, Lake Manyara, and Ngorongoro

In this safari, we will visit three destinations – Tarangire National Park, Lake Manyara National Park, and Ngorongoro Crater. This tour will take three days with two nights in the wilderness and one night in Arusha. The program starts and ends in Arusha.

You will depart for Tarangire National Park with a picnic lunch. After 2 hours, you will arrive at the main gate where you be required to register with park officials. We will begin our game drive through the wilderness.

Tarangire National Park hosts a large population of elephants in Tanzania. We will constantly be seeing large herds of elephants roaming in the verdant plains and woodlands. Tarangire is also famous for its ancient baobab trees. They characterize the vegetation of this stunning park. As we drive watch out for colorful birds. Tarangire has over 550 bird species.

Tarangire is also known for its life-giving Tarangire River. During the dry season, most parts of the wild dry out. Tarangire River remains the water source during this season. As a result, a large population of grazers, predators, and birds migrate close to this river. Therefore, as we drive keep an eye out for animals gathering close to this river. You may be lucky to witness the predator-prey dynamics.

After breakfast, we depart from Tarangire to Lake Manyara with a picnic lunch for a full-day game drive. The journey will take us 1:30 hours. Upon arriving at Lake Manyara, we will go for a morning game drive. We will explore different areas like grassy plains, acacia woodlands, and the stunning alkaline lake – Lake Manyara.

As we drive in Lake Manyara you may see buffaloes, elephants, zebras, wildebeests, waterbucks, and other herbivores. You may also see occasional animals like leopards and the tree-climbing lions. The tree-climbing lions usually rest on the branches to cool or scan for their next prey.

The pink flamingos on the shore of Lake Manyara are beautiful creatures to watch. You may also see other colorful birds as you drive.

After exploring Lake Manyara, we will go to the camp/lodge. A delicious dinner awaits you there and you will sleep or embark on a night game drive.

On this day we have a long journey. So, we depart from Lake Manyara early in the morning at around 8:00 a.m. The Lake Manyara to Ngorongoro Crater distance is 80 kilometers and it takes about 2 hours to finish.

The crater is the largest unbroken caldera on Earth. It hosts over 30,000 animals on its crater floor. It is one of the stable ecosystems, with almost everything that plants and animals need. Animals like buffalos, lions, elephants, zebras, wildebeests, hyenas, leopards, and monkeys are commonly encountered here.

With our picnic lunch, we will drive for about 4 hours on the crater floor. In the late afternoon (15:30 hours), we ascend the crater rim and catch the way back to Arusha. We will be on the way for the next 2 hours. In Arusha, we will drop you at your residence. That is the end of your safari. We are happy to be your choice. Welcome again!
